Definitions come first
If two departments define a qualified lead differently, every downstream model, dashboard and automation inherits the disagreement. Definition work is a half-day workshop that saves months.
Ownership makes it durable
Every important field needs an owner responsible for its accuracy. Unowned data degrades predictably, and the degradation is invisible until a decision is made on it.
Reconciliation builds trust
Run a monthly reconciliation between the growth reporting layer and finance. Differences are expected; unexplained differences are the problem. Once the reconciliation is routine, executive trust follows quickly.
Sequencing against delivery pressure
This work does not need to complete before value delivery begins. It needs to run alongside it, with the first automation deliberately chosen in an area where the data is already sound.
